Instagram has releases 5 new filters for the first time in 2 years, and now comments show in real time

  • Instagram led the way when they introduced filters for photos and added 2 new filters in December 2012. Since then no new filters have been added… Until now! There are 5 new filters, which are; Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Perpetua and Aden.
  • This now takes the total number of filters to 25. Filters where introduced to Instagram to compensate for poor quality photos. The new filters take advantage of improvements made to mobile phone cameras.
  • Instagram has also added real time comments and a new look to the filter previews.

Instagram releases 5 new filters for the first time in 2 years

Instagram has grown tremendously, and now has more monthly active users than Twitter! Taking advantage of this popularity, Instagram have releases 5 new filters to its range, taking the total to 25.

These 5 new filters are the first to be added since Willow and Mayfair where added back in December 2012. The Facebook owed firm explained “Since Instagram launched four years ago, our phone cameras have vastly improved”.

Along with new filters, Instagram have also introduced 3 new tools!

  1. Real time comments – users no longer have to refresh a photo or feed to view new comments, comments will appear in real time.
  2. Slow motion videos – you can now upload slow motion videos!
  3. Photo perspective – you can now adjust the photos perspective using the Adjust tool.

Instagram users can now also personalise their filter tray. Allowing you to move filters in order of personal preference.
